Iowa contractor disaster surety bonds

iowa contractors

Effective July 1st, 2012, existing surety bonds or other financial responsibility documents will be accepted in the event of a disaster by the Iowa Department of Human Services in lieu of new, additional contract bonds. This new legislation can be found in Iowa Senate Bill 2289.

The department’s goal with accepting existing surety bonds or other types of financial responsibility documentation is to expedite the clean-up and rebuilding process during disasters by creating easier ways for contractors to comply with local and state regulations.
