How much does an athlete agent bond cost in Alabama?
Most athlete agents belong to players’ associations in which they must adhere to strict guidelines in order to retain membership. However, the Alabama Athlete Agents Regulatory Commission requires those agents who do not belong to players’ associations to post a $25,000 surety bond.
These bonds are subject to underwriting, so the price you’ll pay for your bond depends on a review of your personal credit report. Strong-credit applicants could qualify to pay as low as 1% of the bond amount! Don’t let bad credit stop you from getting the bond you need. Why do I need this bond?
By purchasing the bond, the athlete agent makes a pledge to conduct business lawfully and serve his or her clients’ best interests. If an agent fails to do so, the Regulatory Commission may make a claim against the bond. If the claim is proven, the surety will cover the Commission’s resulting financial losses up to the full amount of the bond. The athlete agent, in turn, must reimburse the underwriting company for the coverage.

What’s the fine print?
This bond will run continuously and in full force and effect unless terminated or canceled. The Alabama Athlete Agents Regulatory Commission reserves the right to terminate the bond at any time by giving written notice of such termination to the surety.
