Arizona Motor Vehicle Inspectors Must Post Bond

Motor Vehicle Inspectors

On May 17,  House Bill 2444 was passed by the Legislature of the State of Arizona. HB 2444 requires motor vehicle inspectors conducting level one inspections to be bonded for not more than $25,000. This bond is specifically for towing company employees who are conducting inspections. The bond covers all inspection companies’ locations.

Section 28-2011 outlines the different levels of motor vehicle inspections. The revisions made to the Arizona bill only apply to level one motor vehicle inspectors. Level two and level three inspectors do not apply to the provisions. Level one motor vehicle inspections are to be conducted for out-of-state vehicles without proof of title and/or registration, and for bonded titles.

Applicants must file a surety bond with the Department of Transportation. The bond guarantees that the towing company will adhere to the provisions of House Bill 2444. If the bond should be cancelled, there must be a 60-day notice to the director at the Department of Transportation.

If your inspection company conducts level one motor vehicle inspections in the state of Arizona, you must be bonded. Contact the Department of Transportation with any questions about new regulations. SuretyBonds.com can answer any question about the bond and help you get bonded in Arizona.
