$50,000 Colorado Towing Carrier Surety Bond Required

Towing carriers in Colorado now carry a heavier financial load.

As of August 10, the Colorado Public Utilities Commission requires the state’s towing carriers to post a $50,000 Colorado Towing Carrier Surety Bond before being licensed to work in the state. A towing carrier’s surety bond will be used to pay civil penalty assessments if carriers fail to pay when due.

Principals will submit their Colorado Towing Carrier Surety Bonds to:

Colorado Public Utilities Commission
1560 Broadway, Suite 250
Denver, Colorado 80202

The new law can be found in the state’s updated General Provisions of the Rules Regulating Transportation by Motor Vehicle, which were also released on August 10.
