The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) requires contractors building or modifying driveways or other entrances onto state-owned roads or highways to purchase and file a bond equal to 110% of the construction costs or $5,000, whichever is greater.
To apply for a construction permit, contractors will need to collect the following information:
- Copy of TDOT Highway Entrance Form TE-4 signed by the property owner
- Copy of TDOT Standard Form Permit – Work on ROW completed and signed by the property owner
- Performance bond in the name of the owner
- Liability insurance in the property owner or contractor’s name; $300,000 per person/$1,000,000 per claim
- If applicable, five copies of the geometric site plan
- If applicable, two copies of the grading and drainage plan
- Property deed
