Surety bond requirement in the works for new transit authority in Georgia

Transit authority

On November 15, 2012, Georgia Reps. Keisha Waits, Sandra Scott and Valencia Stovall prefiled HB 6 with intent to establish the Piedmont Altamaha Transit Authority.

If enacted, HB 6 would grant the authority to construct and maintain public transportation train, bus and tram systems in Bibb, Butts, Clayton, Henry and Monroe counties. It would also require the secretary-treasurer of the transit authority to post a public official surety bond to ensure that he or she performs all duties ethically and in accordance with Georgia state laws.

No further action has been taken on HB 6 since it was prefiled, so check back with the Surety Bond Insider for updates.
