The Georgia Lottery Corporation requires a lottery retailer license for any “person, organization, or business entity with whom the Lottery Corporation has contracted to sell products to the public.” Georgia Statute 50-27-19 authorizes the Lottery Corporation to require a surety bond for licensure at their discretion.

How do I get a lottery retailer license in Georgia?

Step 1: Determine your eligibility.

Contact your local Georgia Lottery Corporation District Sales Office to verify you're eligible to be licensed as a lottery retailer in the state. A representative will walk you through all relevant forms and applications for your application process. You can also complete the online retail contact form to initiate the process.

Step 2: Fill out your Georgia lottery retailer license application form. 

You can get your lottery retailer application packet from a Georgia Lottery Corporation District Sales Office or the Georgia Lottery Headquarters in Atlanta. You'll need to provide information about your business entity, ownership, electronic funds transfer authorization, E-Verify affidavit, and retailer contracts.

Section I: Business Entity

In this section you'll provide your business information.

  • Each principal of the business
  • Business contacts

Section II: Owner Information

In this section you'll provide personal information for each business owner, shareholder, member, and/or officer. You'll also provide an ID to be accepted by the Georgia Lottery Corporation as a “Secure and Verifiable Document."

  • U.S. Residential Alien card

Section III: Electronic Funds Transfer Authorization

In this section you'll supply an electronic financial fund transfer information and authorization that includes the following information.

You must register your business with the Georgia Department of Revenue and set up your account with a bank that includes the Lottery Corporation as one of the account holders. The title must read “In Trust for the Georgia Lottery Corporation.”

Section IV: E-Verify Affidavit

You'll need to register for E-Verify where the Georgia Lottery Corporation will authorize you to use the federal work authorization program.

Section V: Retailer Contract

In the last section each member of the LLC or partnership must complete the contract found on page 2. Each business owner, shareholder, member, or officer must provide a copy of their driver’s license or other valid form of ID listed in Part II of the application packet.

Note: Each section of your application must be notarized to authenticate the information listed for Georgia Lottery Corporation license approval.

Step 3: Submit your Georgia lottery retailer license application. 

Once you have all required documentation for your complete Georgia lottery retailer license application, you'll submit it to the Georgia Lottery Corporation for review. You'll need to include a $125 registration fee payable by check or money order.

Step 4: Purchase and file a Georgia lottery retailer surety bond (if applicable).

After you submit your application, the Georgia Lottery Corporation will advise if you need to purchase and file a Georgia lottery retailer surety bond. A Georgia lottery bond ensures lottery retailers comply with regulations established in Georgia Code and protects the state and public if you fail to remit funds owed to the Georgia Lottery Corporation.

How do I renew my Georgia lottery retailer license?

Georgia lottery retailer licenses are valid for 1 year from their issuance date and must be renewed before their expiration date.

The Georgia Lottery Corporation will provide a renewal application form with detailed instructions for renewing your license before it expires. Once completed, you'll mail your completed renewal application.
