Who Needs a Mecklenburg County, NC Land Development Permit?
If you're planning any commercial or residential land development in Mecklenburg County or the City of Charlotte, you’ll need to secure a land development permit and a surety bond is part of that process.

Log in to your Mecklenburg County Contractor or Homeowner Account through the Accela portal.

How to Renew Your Land Development Permit
Construction and land use or development permits in Mecklenburg County and Charlotte don’t have a traditional renewal process. However, inspections are necessary to keep them active:
- If no inspections are requested, the permit expires 6 months after issuance.
- If inspections start but aren’t completed, the permit expires 1 year after the last inspection.
- If the permit expires, you'll need to reapply and pay new fees.
