Why do I need this bond?
By posting a Bonded Web User program bond in California, principals (program participants) pledge to comply with the rules established by the Department of Motor Vehicles in the IRP Bonded Web User Agreement. Prohibited actions include:
- using information obtained from the DMV or customers in a false or misrepresentative manner
- using information obtained from the DMV or customers for any purpose that is not explicitly stated in the BWU Agreement
- committing any act that results in monetary losses for the state or a political subdivision
If the principal fails to comply with the terms of the surety bond contract and the letter of the law, the bond protects the state or any of its officers, agents or employees from financial loss resulting from the principal’s actions. The principal must reimburse the surety for any damages it initially covers.
