How much does a game promotion bond cost in Florida?

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services requires operators of game promotions to post a surety bond in the amount of their promotion giveaway prize.

These bonds are subject to underwriting, which means the amount you’ll pay varies based not only on your required bond amount, but also on a review of your personal credit report. Applicants with strong financial credentials could pay as little as 1% of their required bond amount. Don’t worry if your credit is less than stellar! SuretyBonds.com can still get you the bond you need quickly, easily, and accurately. Request a free bond quote now!

Why do I need this bond?

Florida game promotion bonds ensure that principals (game operators) perform all duties according to the provisions set in 849.094 of the Florida Statutes. Specifically, this bond ensures that winning contestants actually receive their prize at the end of the sweepstakes or game.

If the principal fails to conduct business ethically, lawfully, and as contracted, the bond protects harmed individuals from financial loss up to the full amount of the bond.

What’s the fine print?

Florida game promotion surety bonds are continuous until canceled. The surety can cancel the bond by giving written notice of cancellation to the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Cancellation goes into effect 30 days after the department receives the surety’s notice.

The proper name of the game being promoted must appear on the bond form, so applicants should have this information ready during the bonding process.

How to become a game promotion operator in Florida

Florida law requires applicants to file game promotion details with the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services at least seven days before the promotion begins. To apply, applicants must:

  • complete the Filing Application form
  • submit the original surety bond form to the department
  • submit a waiver, if necessary
  • review the Rules and Regulations for Game Promotion
  • submit the $100 filing fee
