Why do I need this bond?
By posting a California information requester surety bond, principals (information requesters) pledge to conduct business in compliance with the provisions of the following laws:
- Article 3 of Chapter 1 of Division 2 of the Vehicle Code
- Chapter 2 of Part 2 of Title 14 of the Code of Civil Procedure
- Rules and Regulations of Article 5 of Chapter 1 of Division 1 of Title 13 of the Code of Regulations
Specifically, these bonds ensure that the principal pays all sums due for application fees and costs related to the release or access of information from DMV records to the DMV promptly and in full. If the principal fails to comply with these terms, the bond protects the DMV, its officers and any other person from financial loss resulting from the principal’s violation(s) up to the full amount of the bond.
