How Do Scrap Tire Carrier Bonds Work?

These surety bonds ensure that scrap tire carriers perform their duties per the Georgia Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Act and fulfill all obligations of the Scrap Tire Carrier Permit.

Prohibited business practices under this act include, but are not limited to:

  • Knowingly violating any material condition or requirement of the permit
  • Purposely omitting material information or placing false material statements on labels, manifests, records, reports or other documents filed for purposes of compliance with the Georgia Code
  • Knowingly transporting tires without a manifest
  • Not maintaining receipts indicating disposal of the scrap tires
  • Storing more than the maximum amount of tires in the state at any given time

If a carrier fails to comply with these terms, the bond protects the state from financial loss.
