Under these terms, the scrap tire collector must provide financial assurance for cleanup and/or removal of scrap tires, for other costs of cleanup at the collection site, for costs of fire suppression and for costs associated with responding to a fire or an emergency at a collection site.

What’s the fine print?

Michigan registered scrap tire collection site performance bonds are continuous until canceled. The state requires 120 days’ notice from the surety prior to cancellation.

Applicants must know their Scrap Tire Collection Site Registration or Waste Data System number. Applicants must also provide the legal description of the Registered Tire Storage area, which is identified on the annual site registration form. The square footage of the scrap tire storage area and the type of business entity must also be known.
