What is a Tennessee alcohol tax bond?

Tennessee Code Annotated Section 57-4-302 requires individuals file a surety bond to apply for their liquor license with the Tennessee Alcoholic Beverage Commission. The state's official bond form is titled the “Tennessee Department of Revenue Tax Bond” but is more commonly known as the “alcohol consumption on premises tax bond,” “alcohol tax bond,” “beer tax bond,” or “wine tax bond” depending on your license type. This bond ensures the state's liquor licensees will properly pay all taxes associated with the distributing, manufacturing, selling, storing, or wholesaling of alcohol.

Why do I need an alcoholic beverage tax bond?
